Super Falcons Are Gunning For All African Games Gold Medal- Coach

Super Falcons stand-in coach Christopher Danjuma has insisted that winning the gold medal of the women's football category of the All African Games remains their topmost priority.

Danjuma, who was appointed acting coach after the Falcons crashed out of the FIFA women's world cup without a win said the he's still pained after failing to pick up 2016 Olympics ticket, losing to Equitorial Guinea in the qualifiers.

“We are going to Brazzaville, Congo for more than the medal but for the restoration of Super Falcons’ prestige that appeared hurt with the non-qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

“We are looking for the topmost prize as well as play ourselves back to the hearts of Nigerians.

“We are going there to perform excellently well, that means nothing short of gold medal, that’s our ambition and aspiration,” said Danjuma to supersport.com.

Danjuma said his side will sorely miss the service of the Liverpool Ladies lethal finisher, Asisat Oshoala.

“Oshoala’s absence will be sorely missed at the Games, her presence would have added potent force to our attack.

“We are seeing her absence at the Games due to injury as a challenge on our part to put programmes in place that will discover more Oshoalas,” said the former Plateau United coach.

Falcons will have the services of four overseas players for the continental showpiece namely Desire Oparanozie, Evelyn Nwabuoku, Esther Sunday and Onome Ebi.

Nigeria’s other Group A opponents are Ivory Coast, Tanzania and Congo. Supersport
