Former Flying Eagles head coach, Paul Hamilton has backed the national the Manu Garba-led side to conquer their Ghanaian opponents, the Black satellites on Wednesday.

The two West African sides will lock horns in the semifinals of the ongoing Orange African Under-20 Championship in Senegal at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium, Dakar.

Nigeria won two games and drew their last to emerge the leaders in group A with seven points while the West African foes were runners-up in Group B behind Mali to pave the way for the epic clash.

Although, Hamilton predicted a tough side for the young Eagles, he believes Flying Eagles will emerge victorious at the end of the day.

“I believe Flying Eagles are equal to the task of confronting the Ghanaian opposite, the Black Satellites.

“I’ve no fear at all that the Nigerians will emerge victorious at the end of the day.

“Though it’ll be a difficult encounter given the age long rivalry between both countries but Eagles have the edge with the quality of players in their fold.

“It’ll be certainly an entertaining and interesting encounter to watch only that I’ve to warn the Nigerians to avoid every form of complacency in the clash.

“Ghana have reputation in the age grade cadre as former world champions and that’s the mentality they’re most likely to bring into the game.

“Flying Eagles have performed creditably well in their group matches and should take it up to earn the seventh African title,” said the former Nigerian manager to supersport.com.

The semifinalists of the biennial football showpiece namely Ghana, Nigeria, Mali and hosts, Senegal have booked their places for the upcoming Fifa Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand. Supersport
