Daniel Akpeyi to replace injured Vincent Enyeama for Bafana Clash

Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama has pulled out of the Nigeria- South Africa friendly game billed for Sunday in Nelspruit.

The Lille of France goalkeeper who celebrated a century appearances for the country's national team opted out due to the injury he had during the team's training session on Thursday evening at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo.

The 2014 Goal player of the year was in goal for the Nigeria's national team when they were beaten by a determined Ugandan side on Wednesday evening.

Former skipper, Joseph Yobo is the first Nigerian player to have achieved the feat, but the 32-year won't be available against the Bafana Bafana on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the media officer of the team, Toyin Ibitoye has said that the former Enyimba goalkeeper has been replaced by Daniel Akpeyi and won’t be on the plane to South Africa.

“Enyeama will not be travelling with the team because he sustained a back injury and has been excused from the journey while Daniel Akpeyi of Warri Wolves will serve as his replacement. We don’t want him to aggravate his back complaints and it was among the reasons why he won’t be going to South Africa,” Ibitoye said.

Ibitoye noted that the Eagles would miss the invaluable experience of Enyeama but assured that Nigeria won’t be disgraced in Nelspruit on Sunday.
