Iheanacho Is Key To Our Team- Manchester City Manager

Manchester United manager, MANUEL PELLEGRINI has said that Nigeria's Kelechi Iheanacho is the reason he decided not to buy a replacement for Edin Dzeko, who left the club during last summer transfer window.

The Flying Eagles forward, who joined the the Blue side of Manchester in a deal worth £300,000, became the hero after coming from the bench in the 89th minute to nick a dying minute goal which helped his side maintain their 100% premier league performance.

City top of the log with 15 points after winning their first five games and kept a clean sheet in all the games.

Iheanacho stole the headline from City's £55million new boy Kevin de Bryune, who featuredd for his side for the first time since he moved back to the EPL.

Pellegrini, who plucked him from Nigeria last year, said: "He is a very important player for us. He's just 18 and started working with our squad last season, but he was unlucky and had a big injury in the last three months of the season.

"This year he started pre-season with the squad and will be a very important player for the future. He's one of the reasons I didn't bring another striker in when we sold Edin Dzeko. He deserves that chance.

"I told him to go and score a goal. I was going to make the substitution before, because Bony had only worked the last few days with the team, but he told me he was okay. That's why I kept him on, but x deserved more minutes. It was important he took that chance."

Pardew also acknowledged the last gasp performance of a player he admitted he hadn't heard of before yesterday.

The Palace boss said: "I don't know much about him at all. In fact I had to look on his shirt to see who he was.

"But City are building a squad from all over the globe and obviously he is just one of them."
