Diego Costa given a three match ban

The English football Association has given Chelsea striker, Diego Costa  a three match ban after he was found guilty for stamping Liverpool player during their 1-0 victory at the Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea qualified on a 2-1 aggregate after the first leg of the game ended 1-1 at Anfield, and are scheduled to meed Tottenham on March 1 to decide who wins Capital one cup for this season.


"Diego Costa will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after a charge of violent conduct against him was found proven by an independent regulatory commission today (Friday, January 30, 2015)" a statement from the FA read.

"The Chelsea forward had denied the charge in relation to an on-field incident involving Liverpool's Emre Can which occurred in the 12th minute of the League Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.



"The incident was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.

The 26-year old is now bound to miss the cracker between his side and Manchester City, which many has described as the 2014/15 EPL title decider.

City still trails leaders, Chelsea with five points and the current highest goal scorer in the league will miss his side's game against Manchester City on Saturday, Aston Villa on February 7 and their home game against Everton four days after.
