Ghana and Algeria qualifies for the AFCOn quarter finals

The end has come for the Bafana Bafana in the 2015 Orange African Cup of Nations after surrendering their 1-0 lead in the first half of the last group game in Equitorial Guinea.

The Shakes Mashaba-led side needed two un-replied goals for them to move to the next round of the competition, but couldn't hold off the pressure from the Avran Grant's Black Stars in the second half.

Mandla Masango scored first for the South African national team, but John Boye cancelled the lone goal from the Bafana player before Andre Ayew sealed the victory for the four-time African champions on Tuesday night.

The other game in Group C ended 2-0 in favour of the best team in Africa, Algeria as they progressed with 6 points in three games into the quarter finals of the African showpeice.




Nabil Bentaleb and Riyad Mahrez both scored scored for the Desert Warriors to finish the group top ahead of Ghana, who also share the same points but trailed by goal-difference.

Both Ghana and Algeria have now joined the teams that have already qualified for the next round of the games and awaits the winners of the Group D encounters tomorrow to complete the last eight to compete for the for spaces in the semi finals of the competition.

Teams already qualified are; Congo, Equitorial Guinea, Tunisia, DR Congo as well as Ghana and Algeria, but unsure of the two remaining team that will join these ones tomorrow.
