The head coach of the Bafana Bafana side, Shakes Mashaba has blamed the passing away of their late goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa as their excuse for crashing out of this year's edition of the African Cup of Nations championship currently going on in Equitorial guinea.

Mashaba and the South African national team lost their top class goalkeeper to an armed robbery attack sometime later last year, which has now left the head coach to be hunting for a goalkeeper, who can fit into Senzo's gloves well.
Mashaba said his reason for so doing was because he is still searching for a number one goalkeeper between Darren Keet, Brilliant Khuzwayo and Jackson Mabokgwane.
“I did so in a bid to find the number one goalkeeper in the country, which we don’t have at the moment. If we don’t give other goalkeepers a chance when are we going to know what we have," he asks.
“We had three games and we needed to test the three goalkeepers that is why if you look in the middle of park, the centre of the spine, Furman and Jali were always there.
"We didn’t want to rattle that. We made some changes on the wings and the strike force, while the defence was more often than not forced changes if you think of Rivaldo and Thulani Hlatshwayo. All in all, what we were doing is about building a team,” he said.

Although, they did not win their two games against Nigeria, which stopped the Super Eagles from defending the title they won 2 years ago in South Africa, they also did not lose any as both legs ended in a stalemate.
Other goalkeepers that have been in fine form of which maybe Mashaba will be considering are Siyabonga Mpontshana, Dumisani Msibi and Itumeleng Khune shall he take over the number one spot at Kaizer Chiefs once again after his injury concerns. mtnfootball
