Harry Kane wins EPL player of the month while Ronald Koeman bagged the coach's category

Tottenham Hotspur forward, Harry Kane has won the Barclays Premier League Player award of the Month of January following his stellar performances for his side in January, which includes a victory over Chelsea and Arsenal in the EPL.

The England player scored the two goals against Arsenal which earned his side all three points over the weekend in the game.

The forward has scored five goals in all competitions, including a double against Chelsea during a 5-2 victory, and also against Arsenal in their 2-1 win.

The 21-year-old is now being touted for an England call-up and has impressed the watching Roy Hodgson in recent months, who has now hinted Kane could be included in the next squad.

'Is he worth a place in the squad now? Of course he is,' said Hodgson.

Kane has helped his side move to the top four. among the teams contending for European championship next season, but his goal against Liverpool on Tuesday couldn't help them gain three points. 

Having scored 23 goals this season and impressing throughout the busy Christmas period, it would have been hard to look at anyone else for the award.

Queen Park Ranger's Charlie Austin won the award in December and Kane has now made it two English winners in a row.  

This is the Spurs forward first award as he beat a number of his rivals to the prestigious prize.

 

Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman of Southampton has won the manager of the month award for the month of January.

Southampton currently ranks 4th on the EPL table with 46 points from 25 games, one point shy of Manchester United, who currently occupies the third position on the league table.

Despite losing some of his players to clubs like Liverpool and the Red Devils, Koeman has been able to use the team he build to compete with the traditional top four teams, and if things end the way it is, they might be heading to play champions league football, at the detriment of any of Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham or Liverpool. dailymail
