Most Valuable player award will make work harder- Taiwo Awoniyi

Flying Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has said that becoming the most valuable player at the just concluded Super-Six championship will only encourage him to do more.

The 2013 FIFA U-17 world cup winning player was a member of the Nigerian U-20 team that won the 2015 Super Six tourney, which featured the Nigerian Professional Football League title holders, Kano Pillars, Enyimba international of Aba, the Nigerian Olympics team and some others.

The former Golden Eaglets star who is expected to lead the Flying Eagles attack to the 2015 African Youth Championship billed for Senegal also disclosed that his team learnt a great lessons from the LMC organised competition.

"It just gives me more courage to put more effort. Winning the best player of the tournament doesn't make me feel that I'm there already," Awoniyi told Goal.

"I just have to keep working hard and do more in every game and competition that comes my way.

"It has been a great tournament with the calibres of players we played with. I think we have learnt a lot against the big boys we met and believe the team will keep improving with every game that come our way."

Ahead the Africa U-20 championship, he revealed that his side will be setting out to win all games towards lifting the trophy as well as securing a ticket to the Fifa World Youth Championship billed for New Zealand. 

"As a team what we believe is to win all the matches that come to our way. That's why we see every match that comes our way as a final, he continued.

"We put in our best and everything we've got to win all the matches. As a player, believe it is going to me along way with the kind of game I've played so far.

"As a player, my duty is to enter the pitch to play but either the team is ready or not in the decision of the coaches to make.

"For the whole team generally, there is no team that comes our way that we will not do our best on the field of play so far it's the round leather ball," he concluded.
