Andy Carroll may have ended his 2014/15 season earlier as the striker has been been injured and will not return until the season is over.

This was revealed by West Ham manager, Sam Allardyce in a press conference ahead of their FA cup tie against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Big Sam said that Carroll's scan result revealed that he would be out for between four and six weeks with a torn medial ligament in his left knee.

But further examinations by a specialist have led to the conclusion that the 26-year-old must once again have surgery in an effort to get his injury-ravaged career back on track. An operation is scheduled for Tuesday.

This injury has been a major concern for the former England striker, whose first appearance for his side for the season was in November because of ankle problems. He injured his left knee against Liverpool on January 31 and this latest injury came on his return against Southampton on Wednesday.
A club statement read: 'Andy Carroll will have surgery on his injured knee on Tuesday following assessment by a specialist on Friday afternoon.

'The England international injured his left knee during the second half of Wednesday night's 0-0 Barclays Premier League draw at Southampton.

'The recovery phase is expected to keep Carroll out for the remainder of the 2014/15 season.' dailymail
