Flying Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has revealed that his aim is to help his side win the U-20 African Youth Championship as well as emerge the tournament's top scorer.
Awonoyi, who leads the Manu Garba-led side's attack was a member of the U-17 team that won the FIFA world cup in Dubai in 2013 and has vowed to do more in Senegal when the competition kicks off on Sunday.
The young striker explained that it was a privilege to return as a football ambassador for Nigeria into another top competition and reiterates the team’s readiness to compete for the title.
"Its a great privilege to be part of this team, and the least any body should expect from us is the title.”
"As a striker, my target is to score in every match, taking every chance I get,” Awoniyi said.
Nigeria faces Senegal on March 8, before clashing with Congo and Ivory Coast on March 11th and 14th respectively.
Nigeria won Bronze in the last edition of the tournament in Algeria in 2013, after beating Mali 2-1 in the third place match of the tournament.
Egypt defeated Ghana 5-4 on penalties to emerge the winners of the last edition following their 1-1 draw at the end of the proceedings in the game. footballlive
