Hoffenheim victory excites Flying Eagles coach

Flying Eagles head coach, Manu Garba has expressed satisfaction towards his side's performance after winning their first test game while preparing for the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.

The Manu Garba-led side, who are also the African champions defeated a German U-23 side, Hoffenheim 5-2 on Tuesday as part of the build-up to the U-20 World Cup, which starts on May 30.

The former U-17 national team coach admitted that there are lots of work to do in the defense line, but believes the team's performance isn't bad at all.

“We started the game slowly, but we later picked up to play our normal game,” said Manu after the thrilling encounter.

“It was a good outing overall and I will score us about 70%.

“But again we need to work on our defence by taking on more defensive responsibilities and our finishing has to be better as we lost several chances.

“All the same, we should also praise the Hoffenheim team, they are a team of professional players and they took the game to us very early on.”

The Flying Eagles next game will be on Friday afternoon in Nurnberg against the Nurnberg U23s, before they play their final warm-up match against Freiburg U23 team on May 19.
