Nigeria U-23 assistant coach, Fatai Amoo, has expressed disappointment at the current rank of the Super Eagles on the latest Fifa rankings which was released on Thursday.
Amoo said that it was shocking to have slipped from the 43rd position to 57th position in the space of one month despite winning their last game against Chad in June.
The former Shooting Stars manager explained that the situation of the nation's senior national team must be addressed now to avoid further going down on the FIFA monthly rankings.
"My heart bleeds when I see the present rating of the Super Eagles in the latest Fifa rankings. It is unheard of that Nigeria will be so poorly placed,” Amoo lamented to Goal.
“We need to put our act in order and also ensure that we make use of the international breaks to play countries that are better on the rankings than us for us to rise.
"We need to do something urgent to address the situation to stop it from getting worse than this. We also need to take all games seriously including qualifiers for major competitions. Our inability to play in 2015 Afcon could have also been a factor too," he concluded.
The Eagles were ranked the fifth best in the world after the 1994 Fifa World Cup and have never attained that height since then. Goal
