D'Tigers Beat Angola To Win First Ever FiBA Afro Basketball Title

Nigeria senior basketball team, D'Tigres have won the FIBA Afro Basketball championship for the first time in the history of the tournament.

D'Tigers defeated Angola  74-65 in the final of the championship in Tunisia on Sunday night and at the same time qualifying for the Olympic games in Rio next year.

Angola, who are a force to reckon with in African basketball took the lead in the first quarter but the William Voigt-led team came into the second quarter with more force and intense all through to the 4th quarter.

Nigeria have now dethroned Angola to become number one in ranking in African basketball, while Tunisia, the host country came third after beating Senegal in the third place game earlier on Sunday evening.

The host country are the only side to have defeated D'Tigers in this championship as they are crowned the champions for the very first time in the history of African basketball.

AL Farouk Aminu and Chamberlain Oguchi were named amongst the 5-man all star team of the 2015 FIBA afro Basketball championship.
