Manchester Unted Manager Reactions To Newcastle Draw

Manchester United are now seven points up from a possible 9 points after the first EPL games of the 2015/16 season.

The Red Devils were held to a goalless draw on Saturday by Newcastle United and the manager, Louis Van Gaal has explained that he was okay with the performance but it wasn't enough as both sides shared spoils.

United, who have a date with Club Brugge in the second leg of their champions league playoffs next Wednesday will welcome Swansea City next weekend, hoping to improve on their 3rd position with seven points.

"I think we can be satisfied about the performance but not about the result because we don’t reward ourselves. I think we have created a lot of chances and we were unlucky."

"It’s also luck. I think it was a great dribble by Chicharito after getting the ball. I think you also need luck in football and it’s not only what you say about quality. I think the quality in the third phase in the crossing positions, we didn’t do so good, we didn’t make the right choices. But we played fantastic as a team and we have fought until the end and that’s fantastic to see. I like this type of game, only the result was bad."

"I’ve said already in advance that he [Bastian] should play 60 minutes. In the other matches, Michael Carrick played 60 minutes and now it was the other way around. I need to build up both.

"Michael Carrick last year was injured for a lot of matches and now he’s not and that’s a big benefit for the team. It’s the same for Bastian.”

"It’s a fantastic start [defence wise] and I think also against Brugge not one chance and then an unlucky goal so I’m very pleased with the clean sheets."

"No that I have said already because as a fan you have to see how we have played this match. The performance was good and the fans were always behind the players. It was a fantastic match to watch but we were unlucky. We have to score our chances and, in the next match, we shall score maybe a goal out of three chances and that is better. The performance today was better though."
