All is now set for the 2015 Kerlin Cup Open Championships organised by the Lagos State Traditional Sports Association at Rowe Park, Lagos.
This year's edition of the open championship, which is scheduled for October 28-30 will feature no fewer than 200 athletes vying for over 3 million in cash and medals.
The competition, which is sponsored by Kerlin Products Limited, will see athletes will vie for honours in two categories, Kokowa and Ayo.
Kokowa will feature competition in five categories – 55kg, 65kg, 75kg, 85kg and 100kg. Ayo will feature the male and female categories.
Managing Director, KPL, Anuoluwa Egbesola, said at a press conference in Lagos that the competition would reward all participants.
“We as a brand identified with the LSTSA because we knew the importance of traditional sports. Anything traditional has always helped in the development of any country and society, hence our investment in this competition,” he said.
“There will be prizes for all athletes who the part in the event. We have earmarked over N3m for it. The prizes will come in form of medals, certificates, trophies and cash prizes.” Punch
