No fewer than 200 golfers have confirmed their readiness to are set to participate in the 12th Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo Memorial
Golf Tournament billed to hold on Friday and Saturday at the Smokin Hills Golf Resort, Ilara Mokin, Ondo State.
The championship, which is organised in memory of late Mrs. Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo was opened to a hundred participants but entries have grown double of the expected golfers.
Meanwhile, the organisers of the tourney have revealed that outstanding women will be rewarded by Toyota Nigeria Limited, especially those who have the chance of winning a special prize for the Amiable Woman of the Tournament.
The Manager, Marketing and Promotions, Smokin Hills Golf Resort, Bayo Aderinto, said, “The tournament is one of the biggest events in the golf calendar. The momentum is high as there have been under pressure from golf enthusiasts from across the country and even from some West African countries, including Ghana. They want to play in the tournament, but the championship is only limited to invited golfers. We are expecting 100 golfers while already over 200 golfers have declared their interest in the tournament.
“In line with the desire of Chief Michael Ade-Ojo to make this year’s tournament more of women because the person in whose memory the tournament was instituted was a woman, out of the 100 golfers expected to play at the tournament, 20 are women as against five invited last year. Again, out of the total entries those that cannot be accommodated in this tournament will be given preference in other events to be organised by the club.” Punch
