The Algerian national U23 goalkeeper, Abdelkader Salhi, has revealed that his side will work hard to finish one of the top three teams at the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off this weekend.
Salhi also said that winning their first game will determine how far they will go after admitting that the Samson Siasia's boys are one of this championship's favourites.
The ‘Fennecs’ have little margin for error in their bid for a semifinals spot at the continental tournament, given the quality of their other two Group B opponents, Mali and Nigeria.
However, Pierre-André Schurmann’s men remain determined to seal a top-three finish in Dakar and book their place at the 2016 Summer Olympics as they prepare for their trip to Senegal.
“I think we are ready. We have been working very hard to represent our country in the best possible way,” Algeria U-23 keeper Abdelkader Salhi told competition.dz.
“We were drawn in a very difficult group, but it is better like that as we won’t underestimate anyone.
“Nigeria are shining in all the competitions at youth level, and have just won the U-17 World Cup. And Egypt and Mali are very dangerous too. But we will try to honour our country.
“We are launching our campaign against Egypt, and if it goes well I cannot see why we won’t be able to keep our momentum going and qualify for the Olympics. It is the dream of any player and we will do everything to reach our objective.”
