Beach Soccer League Will Help Nigeria Grow Talents

Former Supersand Eagles captain, Isiaka Olawale, and coach Audu Adamu have thrown their weights behind the Nigeria Football Federation’s decision to establish a  beach soccer league in the country.

The NFF president has proposed a beach soccer league in the country to gainfully employ youths
who are not under employment.

Nigeria placed second in the 2014 and 2015 editions of the Copa Lagos Beach Soccer Tournament after winning it three times.

Olawale, who spoke with our correspondent, said the decision would help the development of the sport in Nigeria.

“A beach soccer league will help in many ways to make  the game better in Nigeria,” the Dolphins midfielder said.

“Clubs will have beach soccer teams apart from the regular football teams and more players will have engagement and a means of livelihood. It will help reduce the number of unemployed youths.”
Adamu, who is popularly called Ejo, said the league was long overdue, adding that Nigeria would have more players for the national team.

He said, “At present, we have to start training players the skills involved in beach soccer when we invite them to camp, which is always not enough to learn it.

“But with the league, we can have a better bank of talented players to work with in the national team. The sport is gradually getting popular in Africa and we should not lag behind in the scheme of things.” Punch
