Governor's Cup Lagos Tennis: Players Battle For $80,000

All is now set for the 15th edition of the Governor's Cup Lagos Tennis championship which will hold from 5th-19th December. 

The annual tennis championship will be staged at the same venue which has hosted the tourney since inception, the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos state.

The organisers maintained that the games will feature four categories; the men's singles/doubles as well as the women's singles and doubles.

Meanwhile, the total cash for this year's edition has been shot up $80,000, with the women category of the championship getting the larger share of the money.

The Governor's Cup will also feature a four-day tennis workshop for Nigerian tennis players, who are currently under the age of fourteen, and this, the organisers revealed has been going on for about three years.

Commending the efforts of the Lagos state government, the Nigerian Tennis Federation's president, Engineer Sani Ndanusa thanked Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for endorsing and supporting the idea, when it was first introduced to him.
