Nigeria’s Supersand Eagles player, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has said he wasn't disappointed with Nigeria's performance at the just concluded 2015 Copa Lagos.
The host country lost the title to Ivory Coast for the second consecutive time, and Ibenegbu said the team did well even
without key experienced players like Ibenegbu, Isiaka Olawale at the 2015 edition of the annual event.
Ibenegbu said coach Adamu Audu Ejo’s decision to include rookies in the squad paid off handsomely as they proved their qualities in the annual beach soccer showdown.
“I’m not disappointed at all with the Supersand Eagles’ performance at the just concluded 2015 Copa Lagos even though they finished second behind winners, Ivory Coast.
“The coach said right from start that he will use the 2015 Copa Lagos to test new players and I think it paid off quite well as the rookies proved themselves creditably.
“That decision was key to the exclusion of some notable experienced players from the championship.
“So there is no cause for alarm as Nigeria will very shortly reclaim their dominance in Africa.
“I’m sure some of us the old and new ones will be available for the next edition’s qualifier which will speed up the process to reclaim the title,” said the Nigerian and Warri Wolves attacking midfielder to supersport.com.
