Odion Ighalo Expressed Excitement After Sharing Points With Chelsea

Watford striker, Odion Jude Oghalo has admitted the Hornets faced a difficult task against Chelsea at the Bridge, but insisted the point was a reward for their hard work.

The Super Eagles forward said his side could have gone away with all three points, before allowing Diego Costa put Chelsea

back into the game late in the game.

Ighalo's goal on boxing day has put his name in the history book as the first Watford player to score in five consecutive in the English Premier League games.

"It was a difficult game but I am happy we got a point out of here because coming to Stamford Bridge and taking a point is very good," said Ighalo, speaking to Hornets PlayerHD.

"The team really worked hard from the start to the finish and there's a lot of confidence building in the team, so we want to keep going.

"We could have gone away with the three points, but sometimes when you make mistakes you have to pay for it. We allowed Diego Costa to run behind the defence and score, but this is football and we want to keep going.

"The team really worked hard, from Gomes to the midfield and to the top with me and Troy. We really gave our best and we pushed to the last minute, so it's a deserved point for us."

There's not let up in the busy Christmas schedule for Watford, who host Tottenham at Vicarage Road on Monday (December 28), and Ighalo says it's just part and parcel of plying your trade in England.

"This is England, you have to be ready for everything," he said.

"We are playing in two days' time so I'm going to go home and relax, get enough energy as I can get and then I'll be ready to go again on Monday.

"It's going to be a difficult game because Spurs are a good team and they have quality. They have been winning games too so it's going to be difficult, but in football anything can happen.

The 26-year-old now boasts of 13 goals in 18 appearances for his side this season has weighed in with two assists.

The Nigerian has a record of 115.5 minutes per goal in the English top-flight this term.
