Samson Siasia Confesses Algerian Attack Scares Him

Nigeria's U23 team head coach, Samson Siasia, has admitted that his next opponent in the ongoing CAF Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, Algeria scares him.

The Dream Team VI must at least get a draw when they face Algeria in their last group match in Senegal on Saturday to progress to the semi finals of the championship, and also to stand a chance to pick one of the 2016 Olympics tickets, staging in Rio.

Both teams are tied on four points with the Algerians leading Group B with a superior goal difference. They have both won and drawn a match each.

The Samson Siasia led team surrendered their two first half goals in the second half to end the game 2-2 and put themselves in an unfortunate situation.

With the Algerian team scoring three goals and conceding just one in their first two games coming against Nigeria’s team, which have scored five and conceded four, Siasia said his defenders must be careful to avoid defeat and miss out on a place in the semifinals.

“We did not play in the second half and we cannot continue like that, if we want to go to the Olympics. We have to be careful,” Siasia told Cafonline.com on Wednesday.

“We tend to lose concentration in the second half and have to fix it. It was the case in the first game against Mali and the same thing happened against Egypt. It is no longer funny.

“It will be a tough battle against Algeria, and we have to be careful about the North African sides, they attack left and right.”

Algeria coach, Pierre André Schurman, said his team had begun preparations for the game.

He said, “We take each match one after the other, and we will not start talking about the semi-finals now because we are not there. We will prepare for our next match against Nigeria.” punch
