Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi, has insisted that winning a silverware with Argentina national team before quitting international football will be a dream come true for him.
The five-time world best player led the Argentinean national team to the finals of the world cup in 2014, in Brazil, and then to Copa America final in Chile the following year, but failed to win any of the two titles.
The 28-year old record breaker also admitted that he desires to repeat the Champions League winning feat with his Barcelona team-mates, following their five title haul in 2015.
“We have big expectations and a huge desire to fulfill our dream of finally winning something. We have a new Copa America coming up this year, and we have a better chance compared to the last one.”
“I feel that we are improving and that from now on it’s important to win in the very tough South American World Cup qualifiers.”
“We have the same hunger and desire as last season, and at Barcelona we will be going after every trophy available once more. It’s complicated to win back-to-back Champions Leagues.When you win it once, the next one becomes even more difficult. But we’ll carry on with a strong mentality and a willingness to win with this incredible team.
“We get on very well on and off the pitch. So we will try to win it again.”
Messi will compete for Argentina in the 2016 Centennial Copa America from the 3-26 June and with Barcelona in their next Champions League match against Arsenal FC on 23 February. Source: AS
