FC
Taraba player, Usman Mohammed, has expressed that winning the African Nations
Championship in Rwanda will help erase the horrible memories of his relegated
club.
The Jalingo side dropped from the Nigeria Professional Football League to the national league after
failing to gather enough points to stay in the Nigerian topflight, and also owed the players over 11 months salaries and match bonuses, including arrears.
“I took these feelings to the Eagles camp but after some time in the Eagles camp in Abuja I realized that God has given me the lee way and another opportunity to wipe away my sorrow and disappointment playing for FC Taraba,” Mohammed had told Goal.
“Now I am fully focused as regards the task ahead which is CHAN and we have resolved and determined to win the competition.
“Winning CHAN will be great and make me forget totally the way we were treated in FC Taraba. That is my target, that is my focus and that is my ambition for now.
“I just won the Africa U- 23 nations cup with my colleagues in Dream Team VI and with the icing on the cake which is also winning the 2016 Olympics Football Tournament’s ticket too. But winning CHAN will be a bigger platform too.
“But sincerely speaking I feel very bad for the way Taraba United have treated me and my colleagues. As I speak with you even the 2 months salaries they said they have paid out of the 11 months I have not collected a dime.
The Africa Nations Championship begins on Saturday, while Nigeria begin their campaign against Niger Republic on Monday. Goal
