Oliseh Appoints Chima Akas As Super Eagles Captain

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh has appointed Sunshine Stars newly acquired defender, Chima Akas, as the captain of the Nigerian national team B side, ahead of the 2016 African Nations Championship which commences on January 16 in Rwanda.

Chima was earned the leadership position as the ranking player
in camp, since Gbolahan Salami, who was captain during the qualifying series, pulled out of the tourney to seal a foreign deal.

The technical crew will now be looking for who to vice Akas as the Super Eagles assistant captain.

Paul Onobi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa or Austin Obaroakpo have been reported to be the players in contention to be announced as deputy skipper.

Nigeria begin their CHAN 2016 campaign against Niger Republic on January 18 at the Stade Régional Nyamirambo, Kigali before facing Tunisia and Guinea in Group C.

The Super Eagles B are hoping to go a higher than their third place finish at the 2014 edition staged in South Africa where they made their debut. Goal
