Barcelona's Lionel Messi scored twice on Tuesday night against Arsenal to break his seventh game goal drought against the Gunners goalkeeper, Petr Cech.
Messi got the first goal of the night for the Catalans in the 71st minute of the game when he got a
near perfect pass from fellow south American, Neymar, to send Cech the wrong way as he put the ball at the roof of the net.
The current world's best player netted his second for the Spanish giants via a spot kick after being hacked down by Gunners defender in the18 yard box.
Meanwhile, the Czech international had before Tuesday's clash at the Emirate not conceded a goal against the Argentine while he played for Chelsea- even when the 28-year old got a chance to break the jinx through a penalty kick against the Blues in 2012.
The Gunners played a counter-attacking football against Barcelona but lost concentration after almost all their players failed to track back on time when they had gone all out to try and convert a set-piece, which in turn became Barcelona's chance for their opener.
While Arsenal could have also got a couple of goals but Olivier Giroud and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who were both substituted in the second hhalf of the game were wasteful in front of Barca's goal, throwing away clear-cut chances, and putting the Arsene Wenger's men under immense pressure ahead of the second leg at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona ended the game with 66% of ball possession and 4 shots on target while Arsenal, finished with 34% possession and 2 shots on target, Arsenal will now need to work harder to ensure that they progress when they return to the Camp nou for the first time in about three seasons.
In the second game, Juventus came from two goals down to play a 2-2 draw against wasteful Bayern Munich in Italy.
The bundesliga giants had taken the lead through Thomas Muller in the 43rd minute of the game and Arjen Robben doubled the Pep Guuardiola's men's lead in the 55th minute of the game.
But Massimiliano Allegri's men failed to give up as Paulo Dybala got one for the Italian giants in the 63rd minute before Stefano Sturaro completed a come back for the Old Lady in the 76th minute of the game.
Bayern will welcome the Italian giants to the Alianz Arena but Juve may find it difficult against the Bavarians in the second leg.
