Coach Hector Cuper has insisted that Egypt will beat Nigeria on Friday when both sides clash in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
He said he won't predict but says his side are confident enough to stun
the three time Afcon champions in both legs of the encounter.
“We can beat Nigeria and it's impossible to repeat what happened against Ghana when the team lost 6-1,” Cuper said in a press conference on Sunday, recalling the Pharaohs’ embarrassing 7-3 aggregate defeat to the Black Stars in the play-offs of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“I usually don't promise any certain outcomes but I'm confident that we are capable of overcoming Nigeria.
“All people know the importance of Nigeria game and this is a double-edged weapon. If we win, that will be deemed a success and if we lose, we will be subjected to harsh comments and our work during the past period will be ruined.
“I have the utmost confidence in the abilities of my players.”
The seven-time African champions will battle the Super Eagles in Kaduna on Friday, before hosting their opponents at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium four days later. Africanfootball
