EPL Title Is In Our Hands- Leicester City Manager

Nobody gave them a chance at the begining of the 2015/16 league season and at the moment, Leicester City are the English Premier League leaders, and the manager, Claudio Ranieri, admits they will continue to fight until the end of the season.

The Foxes have extended their lead on the EPL log temporarily to eight points after Riyad Mahrez's

goal, pending when Tottenham Hotspur will host AFC Bournemouth at the White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Ranieri has regularly played down the club's chances of winning the title, instead choosing to focus on their pursuit of European football. 

However, the Italian has now broken ranks to admit that his team are the masters of their own destiny in the title race, with seven games of the season remaining. 

“I don’t know if it’s important or not important, everything is in our hands," he told reporters when asked if Leicester had an advantage by playing before Tottenham. 

"We have to push, it’s not important the others. No one is helping us, we have to do our job. If someone goes over us, well done, they are the champions, we continue to fight.

"No (we won’t be disappointed if we don’t win) I am happy with this season. I remember the start of the season. The goal was save the team. 

"Now everybody are speaking about us, not just in England, in the world, everyone is pushing behind us, it’s a great energy. If somebody is better than us, well done, we made a fantastic achievement. Europa League maybe Champions League."

Ranieri has, however, sounded a note of caution in regards to his team's pursuit of the title, accepting that, while a team like Manchester City would be expected to win the league after amassing an eight-point lead, the same cannot necessarily be said of his charges. 

“Look, seven matches before the end, it’s not easy for us," he added. "We are Leicester, we aren’t a team like United, City, Chelsea, five or eight point clear it would be finished, with us no, we have to fight every match. 

"Now we are in Europa League and we are very close to achieve Champions League. Our fans are singing, this is fantastic, we have to stay calm and concentrate. These seven matches are open.”
