Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, has said that he wanted to be remembered for his achievements after he's done serving as the minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Plateau State born politician said he doesn't want to be associated with anything at the moment
but would like to build a solid sports architecture that in the next couple of years, would be yielding positive results for the country.
“You know, when people ask me, what do you want to achieve? It is not about personal achievement. As far as I am concerned, I would like to develop sports architecture that would begin to yield results after so many years I have gone.
“I am not looking for anything to be associated with me now, No! Like I said it is not about personal achievement but about what will be good for the country.
“I am desirous of developing a sports architecture that will continue to yield results after so many years I have gone. I am not asking for anything to be associated with me now, No!
“I am thinking of developing sports architecture and then in the next six, eight years would continue to yield good result for the country in international tournaments.
“Therefore, it is not about me but about what the country is going to gain in the years to come,” Dalung said.
Speaking further, Dalung explained that if the country is able to harness her sports men and women she will be able to dominate the continent for a very long time to come.
“I am impressed with the amount of people I have seen here doing one sporting activity or the other and we need to encourage them by not stopping anybody from using the facilities here provided that they do not spoil anything.”
“If we manage our sportsmen and women well, we can produce sports men and women who would dominate African sports for a very long time. The whole thing is about planning and continuity,” he added. NewsWatch
