Leon Balogun Out Of Egypt's Clash In Alexandria

Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, has ruled himself out of Nigeria's second leg clash against Egypt in 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Alexandria, next Tuesday. 

The Samson Siasia's men squandered their 60th minute 1-0 lead in the added time of the game on Friday in Kaduna, after
allowing Roma's Mohammed Salah salvage a point for his side ahead of the second leg.

"I pulled my hamstring last week in training. That's why I didn't play for my club FSV Mainz 05 on the weekend and didn't come to the camp,”Balogun said via his Twitter handle (leonbalogun).

“Unfortunately I suffered a setback in training this morning which caused me to call off for the 2nd game as well. I'm gutted about this."

“I have to take care of my body now to remain injury-free. Please understand that I couldn't speak on this issue before."

"I just don't talk about things if they're not 100% sure and until this morning I thought I'd join my brothers in Cairo tomorrow.”he added.

Nigeria, who have been scheduled to jet out to Cairo on Saturday to acclamatise will need more than a luck to beat Egypt in front of their teeming fans to revive their chances of qualifying for the next edition of the championship in Gabon next year. Supersport
