Read What MFM And Ikorodu Coaches Said After First Lagos Derby In 23-Years

Local derbies returned to Lagos On Sunday as Ikorodu United were held to a goalless draw by a 10-man MFM FC at the Agege stadium and both coaches have reacted to the game, which drawn the highs and the mighties of the game to the Onikan stadium.

Fidelis Ilechukwu said; "I think it’s not too bad, i believe the red card may be error and we human beings are full of errors, so I don't think I will complain about it because it's part of the game."

"Yes, yes, the red card affected us because we had a game strategy but at the end of the day, we had to change, and that's what happened. Thank God that at the end of the day, we were able to pick a point here."

"Yes I was under pressure because I had a lot of challenges in the defense line because in the last three matches, we conceded, so we are trying to work on that, I was afraid that if we could concede goals with eleven players, how much more when we are a man down, so that was my only fear after the red card."

"I told them to calm down, I told them it wasn't a must win game, i told them to play their game, make it simple, don't load the ball too much, because at the end of the day if we don't win, we will go back home and start fighting all over again."

Captain of the away team, MFM also added:  "Right from the beginning we have bee playing like a team, and when we come out, we play to win, as we all know football is about winning, losing or drawing, even if we lose, we'll know we have given our best in the game."

"When we were one man down, i wasn't disturbed because I know the coach i have will do something, and I also spoke to the boys not to lose hope just because of the red card, let us carry the same spirit, I know we will go home with a point, and at the end, God helped us and we have a point from this game."

But for the Ikorodu coach, he maintained he's not under any kind of pressure: I wasn't satisfied, I played against a team that was one man down, I took one midfielder out, and replaced him with an attacker, making five but it just happened like that football, you win, lose or you draw."

"I'm satisfied with the defense line after four games but I'm going to work on the striker now because I played five strikers today and they couldn't score one, I had to put out one of the midfielders because I decided to change my pattern today, because I needed to score. The defense line is okay, but like I said, I'm going to work on my strikers to start converting most of their chances."

"We've just started the league, we've played four matches and conceded two goals, one from Abia Warriors and the second from Enyimba, we have only played four games out of thirty eight, there are still thirty four left."

A point for me is not enough, its just one over three, so we have to make it work."

"No, I'm not under pressure, I granted an interview the other time, and I can assure you that we are stll on top of it, a lot of teams have been beaten at home but we have only lost an away game to Enyimba, and they are a good side. Captain Ikorodu United Nnedum Francis said after the game: "Yes because as i said, I have to work on the striker more now, the defense line for me is okay, if we could hold Enyimba for ninety minutes and only concede two goals from the four games, the next job is to work on the strikers. Our next game will be an away match and I'm confident we'll get a win from the game- One against IfeanyiUbah and the other against Akwa United."

"We have quality players that can do the work for us, I just don't know what went wrong today. At least we did well against Enyimba game. Our midfield and attack played as if they were scared, I honestly don't know what happened to my colleagues today. We are ready, I just don't know what went wrong today."

"I've learnt a lot from the games, from our last game against Enyimba, the referee killed us, because he started misbehaving in the second half. The referee won the game for Enyimba not the players, because they don't have any chance to put the ball in the net but the referee gave them the chance to do that. But today's referee is okay."
