Theodore Theodoridis has succeeded Gianni Infantino as the acting general secretary of UEFA, after the latter was elected as the new FIFA president.
Infantino defeated three other candidates to take over from Sepp Blatter at the world football level while Theodoridis replaces the Italian at European football's governing body.
Spokesman Pedro Pinto confirmed the interim appointment and also revealed goal-line technology will be used in this season's Champions League and Europa League finals.
UEFA announced in January the technology would be brought in for Euro 2016 and next season's Champions League.
Meanwhile, UEFA have confirmed they will hold a vote on May 3 on whether to let Kosovo become a member.
If it is approved as the 55th member of UEFA, Kosovo is then expected to seek full membership of FIFA.
