AC Milan Fire Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic

Italian Serie A side, AC Milan, have fired coach Sinisa Mihajlovic following their 2-1 defeat to Juventus over the weekend.

The seven time European champions have now promoted their youth-team boss, Christian Brocchi, to handle the team until the end of the season.

A statement from the struggling Serie A giants on Tuesday read: "Sinisa Mihajlovic has been relieved of his role as AC Milan coach.

"The club would like to thank Mihajlovic for the dedication and hard work carried out this season.

"Cristian Brocchi will now be in charge of the first team until the end of the season. AC Milan would like to welcome Mr Brocchi and wish him all the best."

The new coach will commence his reign at the San Siro with his first training session with the players on Tuesday ahead of his side's next game against Sampdoria.

Milan are sixth on the Serie A log with 49 points, 27 points behind leaders, Juventus, who have garnered 76 points from 32 games.

Their hope of making it through to Europe next season is dicey as they are seven points behind Fiorentina, who are 5th on the log, and are Europa League bound if they keep their spot on the log.
