Former Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu, has blamed the problems of Nigerian football on the leadership Nigeria Football Federation.
Nigeria made history under this NFF administration after failing to make it to back-to-back Afcon finals- first in 2015 and now in Gabon in 2017.
"What is happening with Nigerian football is that the top management is not what it is supposed to be so what is below is being affected," Nigeria football ambassador Kanu told BBC.
He said the NFF have to change their style of leadership if Nigeria were to achieve success again.
"When the head is not right, even your body won't be right", said the former Arsenal and Ajax Amsterdam star.
The criticism of the NFF leadership comes after several prominent stakeholders demanded the resignation of president Amaju Pinnick as well as his entire executive committee after this unprecedented failure.
Pinnick has insisted he will not quit.
On Tuesday, the NFF executives will meet with the country’s sports minister for a consultative meeting in Abuja on account of the country’s failure to qualify for AFCON 2017 in Gabon. Africanfootball
