NFF Secretary General Says Super Falcons Must Beat Senegal On Tuesday

The Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary, Dr.Mohammed Sanusi, has told the Nigeria's Super Falcons that they must beat the Teranga Lioness of Senegal on Tuesday when both sides clash in the second leg of the African Women Cup of Nations in Abuja.

The Florence Omagbemi's tutored side were held to a 1-1 draw last weekend at the Stade Demba Diop in Senegal, with just one leg to the qualification of the AWC holding in Cameroon later this year.

Chioma Wogu came from the bench in the second half of the encounter to put Nigeria ahead in the
game before the home side struck back to share the spoils.

“My charge is for the Super Falcons to go all out for a win against Senegal on Tuesday, so that we will qualify to defend the title won in Namibia two years ago.

“They should refuse to be distracted and go ahead and do the job on the field. Nigeria is the powerhouse of Africa in women’s football and we must maintain that position.”

The Teranga Lioness delegation flew with the Super Falcons back to Nigeria on Saturdayafternoon, and will have the official training at the National Stadium, Abuja on Mondayevening.

Falcons’ Head Coach, Florence Omagbemi said: “Our objective was to get a win in Dakar, but it didn’t happen. Now, we have no choice but to do the business here on our own ground. There is nothing to fear. We have the players to lift Nigeria to victory.”

Tuesday’s second leg clash will start at 4pm at the National Stadium, Abuja.
