SS Lazio midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, has disclosed that he's available for the Nigeria U23 national team as they prepare for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.
The Nigerian international was a part of the team that won Nigeria's 3rd AFCON title in 2013, and he
explained that he has already told the coach of his availability, saying it will be a privilege to serve his country at that level.
"I spoke with [the coach] and it will be another chance for me to represent my country to achieve something important, for my country and for myself as well. I will be glad to be part of the [Olympic] team," Onazi told Goal.
The coach of the side said he has the list of the three overage players that will be included in his team to challenge for the men's football event gold medal at the games, hoping to replicate the feat they achieved 20 years ago in Atlanta.
"I already have in mind the three over-age players that I intend using at the Games," Siasia said after Nigeria were drawn to face Sweden, Japan and Colombia in Group B.
Meanwhile, Onazi is hoping that his new found form ensures a positive finish to the season for Lazio who lie in seventh spot in Serie A and are now chasing a Europa League ticket.
"We’re doing our best to get the Europa League spot," Onazi said.
