PINNICK SPEAKS ON FOREIGN COACH ROMANCE

Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnik, has insisted that the federation has concluded plans to hire a foreign coach for the Super Eagles.

Pinnick did not reveal the identity of Nigeria's prospective coach, but he was magnanimous to let
Nigerians know the coach will be a Serbian.

"We’ve made up our mind to employ a Serbian Coach for the Super Eagles and we want an experienced but relatively young coach, who can physically demonstrate to the players what he wants to impart into them."

"We recognise and appreciate (the interim Coach) Salisu Yusuf and his assistants for what they were able to put together in such sparse of time, when Nigeria played Mali and Luxembourg recently."

"But we need a foreign coach, who can instill discipline into the players; a coach, whose towering credentials could command respect from the foreign legions that we have in the national team."

"I was in France for our game against Mali and I saw the marvellous impute, which Salisu and his assistants made to our young team.  You could tell from his tactical changes and substitutions that he is knowledgeable in the game and we appreciate that," he added.

This negates Seyi Akinwunmi's statement in Ibadan on Monday, putting Salisu Yusuf in the fore front as the favourite for the job, haven't overseen the affairs of the team in their last two friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg.

"Salisu Yusuf is sure of getting the (Eagles) job ahead of any other person," Akinwunmi said at a forum organised by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Ibadan at the weekend.
