Argentina Name Killer Squad For Nigeria Double Header

Argentina coach, Sergio Hernandez, has named a fourteen man squad to battle Nigeria's D'Tigers in a two-legged friendly games next week.

Both sides, who are in the same group in next month's Rio Olympic Games met earlier in the month in a four-nation tournament in China, and they will be using these test games fine tune their strategies ahead of the games in Brazil.

The team that traveled to Las Vegas for the game is headlined by some of the players that won the 2004 Olympic gold medal in Athens, Greece- Luis Scola, Andres Nocioni, Manu Ginobili and Carlos Delfino.

Fourteen players in all have flown to Nevada, where El Alma will take on fellow Olympic sides Nigeria 18 and 20 July and the United States on 22 July.

The South American team will still play Australia and Lithuania in a Three-Nations tournament in Tecnopolis, near Buenos Aires, in Argentina after the Nigerian friendlies.

The team will then fly to Cordoba to take part in a Super 4 event (29-30 July and 1 August), that also has the three FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament winners, Croatia, France and Serbia, after which they will finally head for Rio and should be in the Olympic Village on 2 August.

Hernandez's squad beat hosts Mexico last year at the FIBA Americas Championship to qualify for the Olympics.

Argentina are to play in Group B at the Olympics with Croatia, Spain, Lithuania, Brazil and Nigeria, with their Africans their first opponents on 7 August. They will need a top-four finish to advance to the Quarter-Finals.
