Former Nigeria Football Federation technical committee member, Godwin Dudu-Orumen, has said he doubts Team Nigeria's chances of reaching the finals of any track and field events in this year's Summer Rio Olympics in Brazil.
Orumen said with the poor preparations of the Nigerian contingents to the Olympics, the chances of winning medals at the Games are very slim.
"At least we were able to get to finals in some events in 2012," he said.
"But with lack of any meaningful preparation, it might be difficult for any of the athletes to get to the final of their events not to talk of winning medal."
He further explained that with the likes of Segun Toriola, who is attending his last Olympics games, Nigeria developmental program is zero, adding that if the likes of Toriola retires, who takes his place.
Orumen said Nigeria likes fire brigade approach at every opportunity they have to participate in a championship, be it football that are a little bit grounded or other sports.
"When I look at someone like Segun Toriola going for his seventh Games, I realised we are not a serious country because we never prepare for the future."
"All other serious countries have been preparing for the Olympic Games since the last edition and here we are yet to start anything with less than three weeks to go."
"We must start to count our losses and also learn from our past mistakes that put us in this type of mess in the first instance."
