Akwa United have progress to the final eight of the Nigerian Federation Cup after ending Sunshine Stars' quest of winning a silverware this season, and the coach of the side, Daboere Dokubo has commended his lads for a job weldone.
The defending champions played a barren draw against the Owena Boys on regulation time before edging them out 8-7 on penalties at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi on Tuesday.
Dokubo agreed that the game was not an easy one, but the result justifies their efforts at the end of the game.
"It was a tough game but we did enough to win in the end."
"Penalties are anybody’s game and we are happy we won."
"I think we did enough to win in normal time, but we cannot complain too much," Dokubo told supersport
The Promise Keepers will now await their next opponent after the remaining games are concluded on Wednesday.
