Coach Gernot Rohr, has reiterated his desires to return the Super Eagles to winning ways after leading Nigeria to his first official victory over Tanzania on Saturday.
The German tactician led the three-time African champions to a 1-0 win over the Taifa Stars in the
last African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio stadium, in Uyo.
Kelechi Iheanacho's 78th minute banger saved the former Burkina Faso gaffer from drawing his first game, and the 63-year old believes with patience and hardwork, Nigeria will return to her class in the world of football.
"We are a new team and just getting to know each other but I know my players have the quality to play good football," Rohr told media.
"We played against Tanzania who put many players behind the ball and we needed time to break them down.
"Their goalkeeper was excellent. He denied us many opportunities to score. But our quality is not in doubt.
"We had a Tanzania team with a very good goalkeeper and there was need for patience, the players had to wait for the good moment to score the goal. We want to build a team with a good defence, a good spirit, who can win games."
Nigeria's next assignment will be next month when they face Zambia in the Russia 2018 World Cup qualification, after which they will square it up against Cameroon and Algeria.
