Rangers international football club of Enugu coach, Imama Amapakabo, has commended his boys for beating fellow Nigeria Professional Football League title contender, Rivers United at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium on Sunday.
The Flying Antelopes defeated the coach Stanley Eguma's led side 4-0, with goals from Tope Olusesi,
Godwin Aguda, Christian Madu and Obinna Nwobodo helped the Enugu side return to the summit of the Nigerian topflight after 34 league games.
Imama, who also doubles as the Super Eagles assistant coach, said he'll reserve his jubilation till after they have won the league at the end of the season,
"Well, it was one of those games we had to play and we were able to put this to bed."
"At this point, there's nothing to celebrate about, I think we still have four more games to play before we know if we will celebrate or not, but this is just one game out of the 36 games we are scheduled to play this season." Imama told Goal
"I will say there are no two games alike, our approach to the MFM game was different from our approach today, in the MFM game, our final balls were not properly executed, anxiety set in at some point that made it a bit difficult.
"I had to calm everybody down for us to play, and most importantly when you play games like that, if you win, I think you are showing championship stuffs, but today was a different game, we played against a completely different team, that set up differently and we also set up differently, but our final balls were a bit okay and we were able to get goals and kudos to the players."
"Well, we've been going like this for the past 34 weeks, and like I always say, the finish line is in sight, and come October 3rd, we'll know if we will emerge champions or not." he concluded
