Super Eagles stand-in coach, Daniel Amokachi has backed Lille of France shot-stopper, Vincent Enyeama to become the first Nigerian player to get to the feat of 150 caps.
He said this before the kick-off between the Cranes of Uganda and the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Uyo international stadium.
The Nigeria's choice goalkeeper earned his 99th cap in the 2-2 draw with South Africa in November as the team missed the chance to feature in the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Enyeama’s 100 caps won’t disturb our aim to get a win against Uganda. Enyeama is a very solid player and he knows that the 100 caps is not the end of it all,” Amokachi toldGoal.
“He is still in shape to play additional 50 games for the national team. He should not allow that to distract him at all and the whole of Nigeria will be there to celebrate him because it is a mileage in any footballer’s career,” he said.
The 32-year old shot stopper made his debut for the country in 2002 in a 3-0 home win over the Harambee Stars of Kenya.
The former Enyimba of Aba keeper has featured for Nigeria in four African continental showpiece- 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2013 where he led the team to victory.
He has also played at three World Cup finals and was also at the 2013 Fifa Confederation Cup held in Brazil.
