The Flying Eagles have qualified for the U-20 FIFA world cup to be hosted in New Zealand in may this year.

The Many Garba-led team thrashed Congo Brazzaville 4-1 in their second group A game on Wednesday evening.

Ifeanyi Matthew put the nation's U-20 national team forward in the 4th minute of the encounter.

The Flying Eagles goalkeeper, Joshua Enaholo was sent off in the 26th minute of the game while Musa Mohammed doubled their lead from the penalty spot ten minutes before half-time.

On returning from the break, Nigeria made it 3-0 with their second penalty of the game, but Congo struck back around the hour mark to give Paolo Berrettini's side a glimmer of hope.

However, Taiwo Awoniyi sealed the victory for the Manu Garba's side in the final few minutes to end the game 4-1.

Nigeria are now the first African country to book a place in the Fifa U-20 World Cup in New Zealand later this year.
