Chile, the host of the 2015 Copa America championship have reached the final of the tournament after edging a 10-man Peru in the first semi final played early Tuesday morning.
Two goals from each half of the game from Napoli striker, Edurado Vargas was all the Chileans needed to reach the final of the championship since 1987.
The host nation opened scoring in the 42nd minute scuffing his initial shot before rolling the ball past Peru's prostrate goalkeeper Pedro Gallese.
The 25-year old Napoli forward completed his brace for the day in the 64th minute soon after Gary Medel's own goal had drawn Peru level.
Chile will now await the winner from the second semi final game which will be played on Wednesday morning for the final of the 2015 edition of the championship.
If Chile wins the title, they will be crowned for the first time in the history of the championship, but if Argentina beats Paraguay and wins the title, they would be equaling the record of 15 time Uruguay set in 2011, when they hosted and won the last edition.
