FIFA U-20 WC: Flying Eagles to meet Germany after beating Hungary 2-0

The Flying Eagles have qualified for the next round of the FIFA U-20 world cup in New Zealand following their victory over Hungary in their last group game on Sunday.

18-year old Taiwo Awoniyi struck twice to hand the African champions a 2-0 victory over the Hungarians. who gave Brazil a tough time in their second group E game on Thursday morning.

The coach Manu Garba's side will now clash against the European champions, Germany in Christchurch on Thursday in an U-20 World Cup Round of 16 match.

Nigeria finished second in Group E with six points from three games behind Brazil, who won all their games to finish with a maximum of nine points.

Awoniyi opened scoring in the 33rd minute and sealed the victory for his side in the second half to equal Isaac Success and Godwin Savior's number of goals in this tournament.

Awoniyi doubled the advantage after 54 minutes, when he cashed in on a defensive mix-up to round the Hungary goalkeeper Gyorgy Szekely for his second goal of the tournament.

Nigeria's opening campaign was woeful as they allowed the Brazilians took over from the 2-1 half time lead to end at 4-2 after 90 minutes, thereafter bounced back with a resounding 4-0 victory over North Korea, then proceeded to beat Hungary 2-0 in the final game.
