FIFA U-20 World Cup: Manu Garba admits he made mistake against Brazil

Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba has admitted that his side’s defensive errors sold them out cheaply to Brazil in a 6-goal thriller in Group E’s opening game at the Fifa U20 World Cup at the Stadium Taranaki in New Plymouth.

The African champions were defeated 4-2 by the South Americans, and the coach said he was disappointed with the abysmal performance inn the second half of the game.

Speaking at a post-match conference, the former Golden Eaglets’ gaffer expressed his disenchantment with the result which he blamed on mistakes committed by his team in the second half of the encounter.

“It's a huge disappointment. We carved out the better chances in the first half and we should have led at the break,” said Manu at a post-match conference.

“The first 45 minutes reflected what we're capable of. We simply made two mistakes that cost us dearly in the second period.

“All in all we played our part in a really great match and I'd like to congratulate Brazil on their victory; they're a very good team,” he concluded.

Nigeria’s next game will be against Korea DPR on Thursday June 4, 2015 at the Stadium Taranaki in New Plymouth. The Asians also bowed 5-1 to Hungary in their first game on Monday. goal
