The maiden edition of the Col Kenneth Minimah's boxing (male and Female category) championship has reach the quarter finals stage, with Odigbo Stephen from Delta State knocking out Oliwo Kazeem of Lagos State in round one of their three rounds bout.
Odigbo delivered a deadly upper-cut in the early seconds of the first round which was all the Deltan pugilist needed to progress to the next round of the of day two of the week-long championship.
Other boxers who have progressed to the quarter-finals of the championship are Tunde Olejede of the Nigeria Army who defeated Kabiru Oladejo of Kaduna State 2 -1 in their second round preliminaries while Borno State Pugilist, Rotimi Abayomi out-punched M. Onyemachi of Abia State.
Kazeem Oseliu of Ogun State also beat Adesola Abiodun of Adamawa State 3-0 in their 56kg weight category clash.
Fatai Sikiru of the Nigeria Police stopped Ismaila Ajibola from Adamawa State in round two of their three rounds bout while Sanusi Abiodun of Civil Defence Corps knocked out Sherif Ogubanjo of Oyo State in round one.
Rasheed Adeniran of Imo State also outpunched representative of Nigeria to the 2013 World Junior Championship in Khazastan, Olayinka Yusuf of Oyo State, 3-0. newsng
