Gbolahan Salami Appointed Home Based Eagles

Warri Wolves forward, Gbolahan Salami has been appointed the captain of the home-based Super Eagles squad that will face Burkina Faso in Saturday’s African Nations Championship qualifier, CHAN.

The former Shooting Stars forward was chosen based on his wealth of experience in the team, and this is the first time he will be leading any national team squad in any football game.

"Gbolahan will wear the armband when Nigeria host Burkina Faso on Saturday,” the source told Goal.

"He has experience and the ability to lead the rest of the squad now that the team is without a skipper."

Meanwhile, Sharks’ Chima Akas has also been chosen as the assistant captain for the game billed for the Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.

Salami, who has won 13 caps and scored three goals for Nigeria since making his debut in 2014 has a task of helping his side subdue their counterparts to claim a ticket in the 2016 edition of the CHAN championship Rwanda in January. Africanfootball
